That this House is happy to note that 17 June 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the ordination of Father Tony Duffy, the parish priest in Birtley; acknowledges his tremendous contribution to educating generations of children as a teacher and as the Assistant Director in the Diocesan Education Service and as Chair of the National Catholic Schools Commission; welcomes his involvement in the Scout Movement which included his role as District Commissioner and Chairman of Newcastle Scouts; praises him for his long and active support for the pilgrimage to Lourdes which he attends at least twice a year; congratulates him for his open and welcome approach to persons of all faiths and none; and wishes him well for the future.
