Military Amputees And The NHS
EDM number 142 in 2012-13, proposed by David Morris on 24/05/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Armed forces and Health services.
That this House welcomes the Government's support for the recommendations made in the Murrison Report, A Better Deal for Military Amputees; is encouraged that 15 million has been identified to help implement the report's recommendations; recognises that there is a need to address the disparity of access for the latest prosthetic technology for NHS amputee patients; notes that in 2010 only 12 C-Leg microprocessor knees were fitted by the NHS; further notes that it is estimated that an additional 15 million could deliver access to microprocessor knees for all suitable NHS patients and would save the service money in the long-term; and calls on the Government to consider this and other ways to ensure amputees have access to the most appropriate technology.
