Time Limit For Local Authority Referendums

EDM number 12 in 2012-13, proposed by Adrian Sanders on 09/05/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.

That this House welcomes the ability of local communities to determine the form of governance used by their local authorities; notes with concern that communities in England can hold a referendum on local government arrangements only once every 10 years compared to five years in Wales; and calls on the Government to bring forward proposals to equalise the limits so that all councils can hold referendums every five years if supported by the appropriate number of local residents.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
