National Lottery

EDM number 1066 in 2012-13, proposed by Katy Clark on 12/02/2013.
Categorised under the topic of National Lottery.

That this House notes the chance of winning the jackpot on the UK Lotto draw is one in 13,983,816; further notes that the odds of winning any prize on the National Lottery is one in 54; recognises that the price of a National Lottery ticket will rise to 2 in Autumn 2013; further recognises that research published in 2009 by the think tank Theos found that those who buy lottery tickets are disproportionately from low income backgrounds; further notes that the chances of winning are not displayed on lottery tickets and that the odds may not be widely known; and calls on the Government to require the odds of winning to be clearly displayed on lottery tickets.
