Domestic Sourcing By Foreign Companies Receiving Government Incentives
EDM number 1017 in 2012-13, proposed by Mary Glindon on 04/02/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Business support and Industry.
That this House believes that the absence of government support and a proper industrial strategy needlessly hobbles British companies; further believes that this is compounded by confusion between Government departments with overlapping responsibilities; fears that the Wallsend-based OGN company which makes offshore rigs consequently lost 1,500 jobs to a South Korean company because Ministers are insufficiently tough in insisting on domestic sourcing by foreign companies although tax incentives are provided to such energy companies; and hopes that this lackadaisical approach will be remedied as a matter of urgency.
