That this House recognises the tremendous contributions made by the members of the Women's Land Army and Timber Corps in maintaining agriculture, forestry and food supplies throughout both World Wars until the organisations were disbanded 60 years ago in October 1950; notes that it was not until 2000 that veterans of these organisations were invited by the British Government to offer their respects at the Cenotaph during Remembrance Sunday ceremonies; commends the decision of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in 2008 at last officially to acknowledge the input of former Land Girls and Lumber Jills through the introductionof a commemorative badge; welcomes the supportof the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution for disadvantaged veterans of the Women's Land Army and Timber Corps; and calls on the Government to continue to acknowledge and raise awareness of the valuable work done by these women during wartime.
