Corus Teesside Cast Products Plant

EDM number 83 in 2010-12, proposed by Ian Swales on 26/05/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Manufacturing industries.

That this House notes with regret the decision taken at the end of January 2010 to close the Corus Teesside Cast Products (TCP) plant; recognises that the decision to mothball the TCP Redcar blast furnace has led directly to the loss of 1,600 local jobs and indirectly to many more; urges the Government to ensure that the carbon credits attached to the operator are retained so that steel production can also restart under a new owner; appeals to Corus to make available surplus land to encourage new investment and business opportunities in Teesside; and calls on the Government to facilitate a speedy resolution to bring about decisive action to help Teesside.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
