Arts Council Funding For Jazz

EDM number 747 in 2010-12, proposed by Michael Connarty on 15/09/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Performing arts.

That this House considers it unfair that while the audience for people who attend live music concerts is 2.5 million for jazz, 3.3 million for classical music and 1.7 million for opera, the regularly funded organisations (RFOs) for jazz receive 1.7 million from Arts Council England (ACE),compared to 140 million for classical music RFOs and 73.9 million for opera RFOs; therefore calls on ACEto recognise this in setting future budgets so that support for jazz is not further reduced by any cuts resulting from the forthcoming Spending Review; and further calls on the Government to recognise this in guidance to ACE.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
