Support For Young People
EDM number 731 in 2010-12, proposed by Robert Halfon on 14/09/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Children's social services.
That this House recognises that becoming a fully independent adult doesn't happen overnight and that young people need help as they make the transition from childhood to adulthood; believes that the years from 16 to 25 could be formally recognised as a specific life stage and that further work is required to see if services could support young people across this transition rather than stop at arbitrary ages; further believes that central and local government should provide leadership to ensure the better co-ordination of services at a local level for these young people; and supports Catch22's Ready or Not campaign calling for such change.
