Anti-Discrimination Policy
EDM number 627 in 2010-12, proposed by Bob Russell on 26/07/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Equality.
That this House congratulates successive Governments for their policies aimed at removing discrimination against people on the grounds of gender, racial grouping, religious belief, age and sexual orientation; believes that a great strength of British society over the past 60 years has been a desire to narrow the gap between rich and poor, although it is recognised that more needs to be done in this respect; supports measures which help rather than hurt those who are the most disadvantaged, notably poor pensioners and low income families with 3.9 million children officially living in poverty; and calls on the Government to ensure that its policies do not discriminate against disadvantaged people by forcing them to leave their homes and communities through changes to their economic circumstances.
This motion has been signed by a total of 30 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
