Wind Turbines And Occupied Dwellings

EDM number 604 in 2010-12, proposed by Simon Reevell on 22/07/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Renewable energy.

That this House notes that residents in the small villages of Grange Moor and Birds Edge, in the constituency of Dewsbury, have been informed that applications to build wind turbines in the local community have been received by Kirklees Council; further notes that there is strong opposition to the proposals from local residents; further notes that, whilst there is widespread agreement that wind technology has a part to play in reducing carbon dioxide emissions, in order to maintain public support for the continued use of onshore turbines they should be erected at a suitable distance from residential areas and without blighting the landscape; further notes that in November 2009, the hon. Member for Worcestershire introduced a Private Member's Bill calling for the introduction of minimum separation distances of up to a mile and a half between wind turbines and occupied dwellings; and urges the Government to consider introducing such a Bill as soon as possible.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
