That this House congratulates Derry-Londonderry on winning the first title of UK City of Culture for 2013; commends Birmingham, Norwich and Sheffield for the quality of their strong bids; thanks the judging panel, chaired by Phil Redmond; notes that their decision was unanimous; applauds the excellent work of Derry-Londonderry's bid team and the Just Say Yes campaign with its compelling video presentation; recognises the strong community backing from all arts and parts in the city especially young people; appreciates the wider regional support for the city's comprehensive bid; and looks forward to a year of promise and performance in 2013 which can mark a step change in Derry-Londonderry's image and fortunes.
