London's Tube Network

EDM number 527 in 2010-12, proposed by Mark Field on 15/07/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Railways.

That this House notes the vital role of London as a gateway to investment from overseas into the UK, and the absolute dependence of employers and employees on the largely pre-war Tube network, which having been starved of investment for decades, is part-way through a critical upgrade; further notes thatthe economic returns of an upgraded Tube, alongside Crossrail, are estimated at 78 billion; asserts that in this period of great pressure on the public finances spending should be prioritised according to such returns; and urges the Government and the Mayor to maintain investment in this vital infrastructure in order to support UK economic growth.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
