Unheard Voices - Women Can't Wait Campaign

EDM number 518 in 2010-12, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 15/07/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Incomes and poverty.

That this House supports the Unheard Voices - Women Can't Wait campaign, co-ordinated by Concern Worldwide, aimed at highlighting to the UN and world leaders, ahead of their meeting at the Millennium Development Goal Summit in September 2010, that women play a primary role in the fight against hunger; notes that for the first time over one billion people are going to bed hungry every night, and that the majority of these are women, despite the fact that they produce the majority of food in developing countries; recognises the need for the UN and world leaders to act now; and calls on them to do so by listening to poor women's voices, developing gender-sensitive policy and programmes and by ensuring that funding and other support measures reach them.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
