Gun Licences For Juveniles

EDM number 490 in 2010-12, proposed by Bob Russell on 13/07/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Firearms.

That this House is alarmed that children as young as 10 years old in the east of England have been given shotgun licences; notes that figures released by the BBC show that in Bedfordshire 49 licences were issued to people under the age of 18 years, with 140 in Cambridgeshire, 101 in Essex, 301 in Hertfordshire, 248 in Norfolk and 237 in Suffolk; and urges the Home Secretary to investigate whether the minimum age for holding a shotgun licence should be raised from the age of 10 years and that for holding a firearms licence from the age of 14 years.
