Duty Of Candour In Healthcare

That this House welcomes the commitment by the Government to introduce a requirement for hospitals to be open with patients when things go wrong; and urges the Government to take this action as soon as possible by introducing such a statutory duty as part of the registration regulations for the Care Quality Commission, to make this duty applicable to all health providers including hospitals and to make it a requirement to be open with the patient's next of kin or representative in the event of death or incapacity.
