Cycle Provision At Birmingham New Street Station

EDM number 472 in 2010-12, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 12/07/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Cycling.

That this House notes with dismay Network Rail's lack of foresight, imagination and vision in its planning of cycle-friendly facilities at the new New Street Station; further notes that only a total of 57 places will be provided for cycles compared with, for example, the 3,000 available at Amsterdam Centraal Station and 1,200 at Berlin Hauptbahnhof; further notes that the Dutch rail authorities plan to boost capacity nationally to 100,000 places; believes that National Rail needs a dramatic rethink in its cycle provision at New Street and all other stations; and further believes that the Government should meet Network Rail as a matter of urgency to discuss ways to increase and stimulate cycle usage and reduce dependency on car-based commuting.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
