That this House notes that Morecambe Winter Gardens opened in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee; further notes that 2012 is Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee; believes that at this milestone of British history it is great to see the Winter Gardens hold more events than ever before; further believes that the work to bring it into full use is an example of the Big Society in action; commends Evelyn Archer and the Friends of the Winter Gardens for the work they have done over the decades to preserve this important theatre; and looks forward to its full reopening in the future.
