Tackling Obesity In Walsall And The UK

That this House is concerned about the level of obesity in the UK; notes that the UK currently has the highest rate of obesity in the EU; further notes that figures from the Association of Public Health Observatories show the West Midlands to have the highest levels of obese adults at 29 per cent.; welcomes the E-Bal programme with its aim of tackling obesity by enabling people to manage their own energy balance through education, community involvement and the use of innovative technology; encourages community, education and health services to work together to tackle obesity; further welcomes the achievements of the E-Bal programme in Walsall; looks forward to the expansion of the programme across the country; and calls on the Government to take action on the increasing problem of obesity in the UK.
