Data Security On Mobile Phones

EDM number 2655 in 2010-12, proposed by Robert Halfon on 26/01/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Telecommunications.

That this House is concerned at reports in the Daily Mail that millions of mobile phone users may have been exposed to internet scams after their numbers were inadvertently sent to every website they visited; notes that O2 has around 22 million UK customers who were affected, in addition to customers of Tesco Mobile and other small networks; believes therefore that the UK needs a modern internet bill of rights, to set out the legal principle that people should always have to deliberately opt-in to information sharing, rather than be co-opted without their knowledge; and welcomes the Information Commissioner's announcement that he will launch an investigation into these events.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
