Distraction Burglaries
EDM number 2588 in 2010-12, proposed by Jim Shannon on 11/01/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Crime and Elderly people.
That this House notes the rise of so-called distraction burglaries on vulnerable elderly people; expresses condemnation on those who would carry out these attacks; calls on the police forces in each region to implement a strategy which highlights these types of burglaries and ensures that elderly people are aware of the protocol for letting people into their home; and further calls for much tougher sentencing of those who are caught and found guilty of this disgraceful type of crime.
This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
