That this House welcomes the joint venture between Wolverhampton University and Walsall Schools to promote the best educational practice that supports the attainment of children from ethnic minority backgrounds and children with English as an additional language; further welcomes the summit held on 1 December 2011 which offered educators and researchers the opportunity to listen, discuss and plan for future action in this area; recognises the importance of innovation and collaboration in practices and technologies for motivation, assessment and monitoring of schoolchildren at such an important time in their lives; notes that according to the National Literacy Trust there are more than 200 languages spoken in the homes of children attending schools in England; further recognises the valuable contribution of cultural diversity to education; acknowledges the hard work and commitment of educators and researchers working to support all children to fulfil their potential; and calls on the Government to support partnership and forward thinking in improving children's life chances.
