Countryside Alliance Report On Mandatory Country Of Origin Labelling

EDM number 2507 in 2010-12, proposed by Richard Bacon on 05/12/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Food.

That this House welcomes the Countryside Alliance Foundations's report, Honest, Fair, Simple, which calls for mandatory country of origin labelling of all meat products where meat constitutes 10 per cent. or more ofthe product, and for single country labels to mean that the animal was born reared and slaughtered in that country; and believes that this will leave the playing field for British farmers and enable British consumers to make informed choices in support of home-produced food which is produced to the highest standards of animal welfare, health and safety and environmental protection.

This motion has been signed by a total of 49 MPs.
