EDM number 2482 in 2010-12, proposed by Therese Coffey on 25/11/2011.
Categorised under the topics of Information technology and Training.

That this House welcomes the launch of Next Gen Skills, a major new campaign by the UK's leading video games, visual effects, advertising and software technology firms, together with the UK's major skills bodies to improve the computer programming skills needed for the future growth of the UK's economy; further welcomes Next Gen Skills' vision for the UK's schools to equip the next generation with the knowledge needed to grow this country's digital, creative and high-tech economy; and supports the key objectives of the campaign, namely the introduction of an industry-relevant computer science course within the framework of the curriculum and qualifications offered by schools, a review of ICT in its current form to embed essential ICT skills across the wider curriculum and the promotion of the vital role that teaching mathematics, physics, art and computer science will play in ensuring the growth of UK's digital, creative and hi-tech industries.
