City Of London Corporation

EDM number 2368 in 2010-12, proposed by John McDonnell on 02/11/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.

That this House considers that it is unacceptable in a democratic country in thetwenty-firstcentury for the business vote to continue to exist in elections for the City of London Corporation, overriding the votes allocated to local residents; and believes that it is time to either reform the City of London Corporation so that it is elected on the basis of one person one vote as in every other local council in the UK, or to abolish the City of London Corporation and distribute its powers and responsibilities to either the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority or the surrounding London boroughs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
