Tideway Sailability And Greenland Dock

EDM number 2364 in 2010-12, proposed by Simon Hughes on 02/11/2011.

That this House believes that the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games should be events which encourage the maximum number of British residents to be involved in sport; further believes that local sports clubs have a vital role in engaging the public in sporting activity before, duringand after next year's games; particularly commends the work over many years of Tideway Sailability and Greenland Dock in Rotherhithe which is a unique club providing sporting activities where people withdisabilities take part, on equal terms, with those without disabilitiesas well astogether with able-bodied sailors; is greatly concerned atproposals for a development in 2012 in Greenland Dock which could threaten the Olympic year activities of Tideway Sailability; and calls on Southwark Council and all others with direct influence or authority to donothing which could reduce the activities of Tideway Sailability or the opportunities for sport and recreation for people with disabilities particularly in the year when London hosts the greatest sporting show on earth.
