That this House condemns the execution of Troy Davis by the State of Georgia on 21 September 2011; expresses grave concern that the execution went ahead despite a widespread lack of confidence in the trial following the recantation of evidence by a majority of witnesses; believes that capital punishment is fundamentally wrong; calls on the Government to condemn his execution; and further calls on the Government to play an active role in seeking to end the use of capital punishment in all countries in the future.
