National Lottery And Electronic Bill Payments

EDM number 203 in 2010-12, proposed by Bob Russell on 10/06/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Financial services and National Lottery.

That this House notes with concern the proposal by Camelot to use its state-protected monopoly infrastructure to provide bill payment services and mobile top-ups at retail outlets, which will threaten post office and local shop revenue streams; and calls on the Government to reject any attempts to allow payment for essential services to be made through gambling terminals, as doing so will further expose the most vulnerable sections of society to the temptation to gamble with money they cannot afford to lose.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
