Imprisonment Of BahÁ'Í Community Leaders In Iran
EDM number 1829 in 2010-12, proposed by Mark Williams on 18/05/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Iran.
That this Housenotes that 14 May 2011 marks the third anniversary of the incarceration of the former leadership group of the Bah' community in Iran, known as the Yarn; observes their sentence to 20 years' imprisonment in August 2010 after a trial notable for its lack of due legal process; is mindful of the international outcry that has followed this case in which Nobel Laureates, human rights organisations, jurists and others have expressed concern over the trial and imprisonment of these seven members of the peaceful Bah' minority in Iran; and calls on the Government to press the Iranian authorities for their release.
