International Noise Awareness Day

EDM number 1732 in 2010-12, proposed by Bob Russell on 26/04/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Health education and preventive medicine.

That this House places on record its appreciation of Noisedirect, the independent national noise advice line, in seeking to help people solve everyday noise problems day after day, 52 weeks a year, with no gimmicks, just plain simple professional advice and practical solutions, which help tackle the increasing nuisances and problems caused by unneccesary noise; notes that 27 April 2011 is the 16th International Noise Awareness Day; congratulates Noisedirect for supporting this event which is concerned with the effects of noise on people's health and hearing; and furthernotes that Noisedirect's newly-appointed Noise Tzar Val Weedon MBE, a leading noise campaigner, is calling on the Government to amend regulations and provide further resources to empower ordinary people to achieve effective solutions for peaceful homes.
