Tuberculosis And HIV In Rwanda
EDM number 1675 in 2010-12, proposed by Cathy Jamieson on 30/03/2011.
Categorised under the topics of Africa and Diseases.
That this House welcomes the significant improvement in treatment rates for tuberculosis (TB) and HIV in Rwanda over the last decade; notes the importance of integration of TB and HIV services within wider health efforts in the country, particularly in maternity care; acknowledges the benefits that this approach can bring to a country's health system; is concerned by the continuing high levels of co-infection between TB and HIV and high mortality rates associated with both diseases in many African countries; and calls on the Government to support efforts to share best practice from Rwanda in other countries.
