Equal Pay

EDM number 1571 in 2010-12, proposed by Lorely Burt on 10/03/2011.
Categorised under the topics of Equality, Gender recognition and Pay.

That this House notes that equalising pay will give businesses proper access to the full range of talents available; is concerned that the latest Office of National Statistics figures show that the average gender pay gap still remains at 15.5 per cent.; recognises the Government's commitment to equal pay and progression in their Equality Strategy; regrets the decision not to enforce section 78 of the Equality Act 2010 which requires gender pay information to be disclosed by private companies with over 250 employees; and calls on the Government to review the gender pay gap in 2013 with the intention of introducing legislation should there not be marked improvements forthcoming.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
