Aid To Yemen

That this House welcomes the announcement by the Secretary of State for International Development, that the Government will increase aid to Yemen from 46.7 million to 76 million a year until 2015; notes that Yemen is the poorest nation in the Middle East; further notes that the Yemeni government is combating the growth of al-Qaeda within the country at a time of mass unrest in the Arab world; calls on the Government to continue to develop bilateral relations with Yemen to strengthen its fragile state; and urges the Government to work with the Yemeni government to develop an action plan for improving the economic situation in Yemen and combating terrorism.
