Proposed Closure Of The Money Advice Centre In Leicester

EDM number 1471 in 2010-12, proposed by Keith Vaz on 17/02/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Voluntary organisations.

That this House is concerned that the Money Advice Centre in Leicester may face closure in March 2011 following a cut in Government funding; recognises the invaluable role the centre plays in advising some of the most vulnerable individuals in Leicester on debt issues; notes that the Leicester City Council Community Support Team currently refers individuals to the Centre for free finance and debt advice; further notes that the loss of this service when unemployment in Leicester City has risen to 11,524 and when people are struggling with debt is a concern for residents; and urges the Government to continue to provide funding for Leicester Money Advice Centre.

This motion has been signed by a total of 5 MPs.
