Campaign To Save Levenshulme Baths

EDM number 1470 in 2010-12, proposed by John Leech on 17/02/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.

That this House condemns the decision by Labour-run Manchester City Council to close Levenshulme Baths; notes thatthis facility, which is also available for other community use, recently underwent 200,000 improvements and that the unnecessary closure would only save 73,000 revenue spending in the first year; further notes that over the last two years the Labour-led council wasted 150,000 on sculptures outside the City Council offices and spent 300,000 on a parade, whilst sitting on reserves of over 100 million; believes that the Labour Councillors in Manchester are playing politics with public services; and welcomes plans by the Liberal Democrat opposition on the Council to bring forward plans to save Levenshulme Baths and other frontline services from closure.
