Non-Mains Gas And Oil

EDM number 1327 in 2010-12, proposed by Timothy Farron on 24/01/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Oil, petrol and natural gas.

That this House recognises that many people living in rural areas like Cumbria rely on non-mains gas and oil for their household energy needs; notes with concern that these sources are not currently monitored by the energy regulator Ofgem and therefore charges are often higher, with service standards beyond the reach of regulation; and calls on the Government to bring these sources of home energy under the regulation of Ofgem to prevent unfair rises in the cost of energy for people living in rural areas.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
