Office Of The Public Guardian

EDM number 1203 in 2010-12, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 14/12/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Mental health.

That this House recognises that the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an historic defender of the rights and welfare of the most vulnerable people in the community; is concerned at plans threatening 177 jobs after it was announced that jobs would relocate from London to Birmingham withno relocation expenses for staff; believes that this represents a threat of compulsory redundancy for OPG staff with many years of experience; is alarmed that the costs of this ill-advised transformation programme are likely to be picked up by vulnerable people including those with mental health problems; and urges the Government to intervene to stop these plans and listen to proposals put forward by the Public and Commercial Services Union to move the OPG into the same building as the Court of Protection and cut the cost of the newly-proposed Chief Executive's office.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
