Iran's Nuclear Programme

EDM number 1145 in 2010-12, proposed by Robert Halfon on 06/12/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Iran and Nuclear power.

That this House welcomes the support of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in opposing the Iranian nuclear threat; is seriously concerned that the prospect of a nuclear Iran is only a few months away; notes that the Iranian President Mr Ahmadinejad has frequently denied the Holocaust, and stated that it was `exaggerated as a pretext for war'; further notes that in 2005 he described the state of Israel as an `occupying regime' which should be `wiped off the map'; finally notes that in a speech at the United Nations summit on the Millennium Development Goals, he alleged that the USadministration `orchestrated' the World Trade Center attacks in order to reverse declines in the US economy and `save the Zionist regime'; therefore calls on the Government for much stronger economic sanctions and other urgent measures to contain Iran's threat, before military action is deemed the only solution.
