That this House recognises the centenary of the women's suffrage event of Black Friday, 18 November 1910; notes the tragedy of the day's outcome, and the reported brutality of the police on that day, asa result of which many protesters suffered injuries and some later died; acknowledges the bravery of the women and men who campaigned relentlessly to gain votes for women; remembers the sacrifices of campaigners on Black Friday and throughout the suffrage movement; further notes that it was not until the Representation of the People Act 1928 that women received the vote on equal terms to men, over the age of 21 years; and calls on the Government to continue to support and recognise women's contributions to society.
