Carlsberg UK And The Closure Of Tetley's Leeds Brewery

EDM number 996 in 2009-10, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 03/03/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Companies and Unemployment.

That this House condemns the decision by Carlsberg to close the Tetley's Leeds Brewery and transfer brewing of Tetley's cask ales to Wolverhampton and Tetley's Smoothflow to Tadcaster; notes that Tetley's ales have been brewed in Leeds for 187 years and that Tetley's is an iconic Leeds brand; believes that this is a decision made in the interests of corporate greed with no regard for Tetley's heritage as a famous Leeds beer; deplores the potential loss of 170 jobs from the Leeds Brewery; further believes that Carlsberg has betrayed Tetley's and Leeds; and calls on the people of Leeds to show how they feel about the decision and boycott Carlsberg lager.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
