That this House welcomes the new support scheme announced by the Scottish Government to provide financial support for families of police officers killed in the line of duty; notes the Police Survivor Support Scheme will see up to £20,000 given to families of officers who have been killed to give added financial support after the end of the pension entitlement; further notes that the Scottish Government-funded initiative will be run by the Police Dependants' Trust, which has been providing financial support to the families of officers killed on duty for over 40 years; believes that the brave police officers who have given their lives to protect communities should not be forgotten; and recognises that this scheme will give financial support to those dependants where financial hardship has arisen.
