That this House welcomes Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March; notes with concern that only 38 per cent. of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the UK will survive five years; recognises that women who are diagnosed at an early stage with ovarian cancer have a 90 per cent. survival rate five years beyond diagnosis, as opposed to women diagnosed at a later stage with the disease where survival rates are much lower; further welcomes the all party commitment to improve access to diagnostic tools for cancers, including ovarian cancer; further recognises proposals aimed at increasing prompter diagnosis of ovarian cancer; acknowledges the good work of Ovarian Cancer Action to improve women's chances of surviving ovarian cancer by funding research and raising awareness of the disease by giving a voice to women with ovarian cancer and their families; and calls on the Government to support Ovarian Cancer Action's Remember the Symptoms campaign to raise awareness among health professionals and women alike of the symptoms of ovarian cancer to increase earlier diagnosis of the disease and improve survival rates.
