Case Of Periklis Antoniou
EDM number 290 in 2009-10, proposed by Alan Meale on 30/11/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Public order offences.
That this House is dismayed both by the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service not to proceed in the case against Periklis Antoniou, charged with breaching section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 for causing public harassment, alarm or distress by his behaviour against a family whilst travelling on the London Underground, and by the proprietors of the magazine Amateur Photographer who continue to decline to make an apology for its misreporting of the case and its presentation of this case as merely representing a threat to photographers' rights; and believes in contrast that the taking of inappropriate photographs of young girls in this case, without the permission of her parents who were present at the time of the incident, represents a serious intrusion into the lives of children and their parents.
