That this House pays tribute to Chorley boxer Michael Jennings for competing in the World Boxing Organisation welterweight title against Miguel Cotto at New York's Madison Square Garden on 21 February 2009; recognises that while Michael Jennings was not successful in claiming the title he put up a resilient fight against Miguel Cotto and can be proud of his efforts; notes the excellent role model Michael Jennings has become both in his home town of Chorley and further afield; and further recognises the value of role models in the sports arena in helping young people to get involved in sport at a young age.
