Essential Tremor Disorder
EDM number 797 in 2008-09, proposed by Mark Williams on 12/02/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Diseases.
That this House acknowledges the difficulties faced by those diagnosed with essential tremor, an involuntary shaking or trembling of part of the body; notes that it is one of the most common neurological diseases, affecting approximately four per cent. of those aged 40 years or over and the most common form of tremor; acknowledges that while many can live happy, healthy lives despite the disorder, it can cause significant problems for the remainder in carrying out their daily routine; welcomes the support given to sufferers by the National Tremor Foundation in the UK; further notes the lack of research into this condition; and believes that greater recognition of essential tremor would help to improve treatment and public understanding.
