Welsh Language Legislative Competence Order

EDM number 680 in 2008-09, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 03/02/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Equality.

That this House welcomes the publication of the Welsh Language Legislative Competence Order; congratulates everybody who has taken part in the development and drafting of this important piece of legislation; recognises that Wales is a bilingual country and that both languages deserve equal status; and hopes that there will be a speedy process through the scrutiny stages of the Legislative Competence Order and that its quick adoption will allow the Welsh Assembly Government to bring forward an Assembly Measure leading to a greater usage of one of Europe's oldest languages in a society where the rights of speakers of both languages are respected.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
