Law Relating To Unmarried Couples
EDM number 631 in 2008-09, proposed by Andrew Dismore on 29/01/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Cohabitation.
That this House believes that the law relating to unmarried couples is in urgent need of reform because there is little or no legal protection for cohabitants on relationship breakdown; and, while welcoming the introduction of civil partnerships for same-sex couples, calls on the Government to introduce a new law to provide a safety net for couples of whatever sexual orientation who live together as its next priority.
