Arrest Of Hon. Member For Ashford
EDM number 51 in 2008-09, proposed by John Hemming on 03/12/2008.
Categorised under the topic of Members of Parliament.
That this House is saddened by the arrest of the hon. Member for Ashford for doing his job; believes that the 1688 Bill of Rights interpreted in accordance with Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights in the manner defined by the Human Rights Act 1998 indicates that such an arrest is a contravention of parliamentary privilege; and calls upon the House authorities to take the appropriate legal action in the courts in order to have the unlawful action by the police brought to an urgent end.
