That this House notes that 12 January 2009 marks the 50th anniversary of Motown music when Berry Gordy Jr founded Tamla records; recognises the many talented and memorable artists such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Temptations and Mary Wells, to name but a few, who have contributed to this legendary label; further notes that Motown changed the face of music for future generations and helped to create the reputation of the legendary Wigan Casino; and looks forward to the year-long celebration of Motown's 50th anniversary.
