Free Television Licences For Pensioners (No. 2)
EDM number 385 in 2008-09, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 12/01/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Broadcasting and Elderly people.
That this House notes that pensioners aged 75 years and over currently enjoy free television licences; recognises the importance of a television to elderly people who spend many hours in their own homes and depend heavily on their televisions; further notes the anomalies within the current system whereby the rate of television licence fees levied varies between those living in sheltered accommodation, nursing homes or their own home; and calls on the Government to end this disparity and provide free television licences for pensioners aged 65 years and over.
